Individual Therapy

Therapy for Depression, Anxiety and More

Individual therapy can be beneficial for virtually everyone. Although at one point it was stigmatized as being only for the mentally unwell, most people understand today that therapy is just another tool for self-improvement. A therapist can be a resource, someone who provides objectivity and teaches you how to handle difficult situations in life. There are numerous therapeutic approaches now available, all geared toward different needs. Some, like behavioral therapy, focus on learning skills to deal with current or future problems. Others, like those in the psychoanalytical school of thought, are focused on addressing past events or patterns that are difficult to overcome without professional aid. Dr. Raul J. Rodriguez’s center in downtown Delray Beach features a team of psychotherapists, with all different specialties and training, in order to meet every one of our patients’ unique needs.

At the offices of Dr. Raul Rodriguez, our clinical staff upholds the highest professional and ethical standards, so as to protect all our patients confidentiality. Our team of Masters level, licensed mental health counselors and clinical social workers are understanding and sensitive to the needs of their clients, regardless of age, gender or sexual identity. With a full team of psychotherapists, we can provide therapeutic counseling to a number of populations, including older adults, emerging adults, adolescents, professionals, and members of the LGBTQ community.

Starting Individual Therapy in Delray Beach

We recommend that anyone interested in starting individual therapy first come in for a comprehensive psychiatric evaluation with Dr. Rodriguez or one of the doctors on his medical staff. During the evaluation, a mental health diagnosis is made, which helps determine the best form of therapy. A determination is also made as to whether individual therapy, group therapy, psychiatry, or a combination of approaches would be most beneficial for the patient. After the evaluation, our doctors will refer the new patient to the therapist that is best suited for their personal needs. Individual therapy sessions can include emotional support, goal setting, psycho-education, and skills coaching (such as in CBT and DBT). Even for patients who are on a stable regimen of psychiatric medications, therapy can still be helpful for teaching emotional regulation, effective communication strategies, and distress tolerance that cannot be achieved through medication alone. Individual therapy sessions run on 55-minute and 85-minute durations, and our clinical office is open Monday through Friday, with morning, lunch, afternoon and evening sessions available.
